With team members from all over the city, the country and the world, and with greatly different running goals, we find unity in recognizing and appreciating each others differences and our mutual enjoyment of running and participating in the New York running community and beyond. Our goal is to help each other become the best runners that we can and to fulfill …

This is a group for those interested in group runs starting in Long Island City. There are running clubs based in north Brooklyn and Astoria but none, for reasons I can't explain, in LIC. Goals of the group: change that fact; connect people seeking running partners; explore new routes. All skill levels welcome. Envisioning runs in the 4-7 mile range but the beauty of the experiment is it's entirely flexible to the wants of those who join!

Barefoot Brooklyn is a group for minimally shod and barefoot runners of all levels of experience. Our group is in it for the sheer fun of running--and it is, when you're barefoot! See our "About" page (linked just below this text) for a few tips and some resources to help get you started. We're just getting the ball rolling, so all suggestions and ideas are welcome. If you are curious about barefoot running, but not ready to kick off your shoes, feel free to join us in your sneakers.
Take a moment to get to know us: The idea behind this meetup is to provide a convenient spot off of the Brooklyn ended N&R Train for people to meet and make new friends. It's also intended to be a somewhat low key thing with only couple dozen people. That way you're sure to actually be included in the conversation. We have a RSPV limit to most places we meet. If you RSVP, try and show up. If you change your mind try and change your RSVP too. It isn't a huge issue but if you occupy a spot you'r …
Are you unhappy with how you look? Are you unhappy with how you feel? Are you tired of telling yourself you should do something about it and then hating yourself when you don't? Are you looking for a close group of friends? Are you scared to start but want desperately to try? I AM!!!! Let's make a tight group of friends while making tight bodies for ourselves! I'm looking for people who would like support and who can support me in completing the Couch to 5K program (http://www.coolrunning.com/en …
We welcome runners of all abilities to join us for casual runs in Fort Greene and neighboring areas of Brooklyn. We meet at the southeast entrance of Fort Greene Park (corner of DeKalb and Cumberland Streets) and decide where to run from there. Join your neighbors for training and fun!
The Brooklyn Road Runners are a running club that meets mainly in Prospect Park. If you run for fun or if you are more serious, training for races, track or a Marathon, why not join one of our weekly runs...
Living in an apartment with a dog is often a challenge, especially when that dog was bred to run full tilt for 12 hours a day! As someone living with a border collie, I often get stressed out about finding enough for him to do. I'm sure other people with herding dogs feel the same and I figure it might be fun to get together and do things with our energetic companions. This purpose of this meetup group is to meet other border collie (and similar breed) lovers, learn about training techniques an …
This meetup was established with the hope of recruiting new members to join our core group of football players. As a group we have been playing regularly for the past few years. But as time goes by we've lost more members than have joined due to family, jobs, life, etc. Our member's love of the game and sportsmanship remain. We play a competitive but relaxed game. We welcome new members and integrate them into football extremely well due to our relaxed nature. We teach and encourage members and …

Join us as we workout with our babies AND have free playgroups in the park. As long as the weather is nice, we'll meet up and let the kiddos run around (or lay around) and chat with other neighborhood moms. Stroller Strides® is a total fitness program that moms can do with their babies. It includes power walking and intervals of strength and body toning exercises using exercise tubing, the stroller and the environment. Taught by certified and specially trained fitness instructors, it is a great …

Welcome to the NYC/Brooklyn Tri Training Group! Our meet-up group was established to bring together like-minded individuals looking to share their passion for training and participating in triathlons. Athletes of all experience levels are welcome to join. As a newbie to the sport myself, it is my hope that more experienced members will share their knowledge with those of us just starting out. With over 300 members already signed up, the NYC/Brooklyn Tri Training Group is growing fast. I encourag …
This group is for people who love to jump rope and/or sprint up stairs for fitness. The workout is the following: 3 days a week jump rope 60 minutes (1minute jumping/30 seconds rest) 3 days of sprinting up and walking down the stairs ( 8 sets or about 20 minutes) It's 6 days a week and intense but hyper effective, if you are overweight you will lose about 5 pounds per week. I am trying to form a small group that meets everyday by the monument in Fort Greene Park with the goal of losing all ki …

The Historic House Trust of New York City has organized a FREE training and volunteering program called the Roof Raisers Curatorial Brigade for anyone interested in helping historic houses care for their collections. Many house museums are run by non-profit organizations with limited budgets that must be stretched to cover innumerable costs…and that’s on a good day!
